It's good to be valued

I ran into the people whom I teach language lessons for this weekend. I mentioned that I may not continue, since I feel the students are not taking it seriously and it is a lot of extra time for me to do voluntarily. Well, tonight, the owner had a stern talk with the students they showed their gratitude to me in generous goodies. I received a bottle of white wine (we'd talked about how I do not care for red), a box of cakes (slices of different kinds), a box of pastries to go "with tea", and some horse meat. Now, this may not seem like much to some, but it is a very generous offer from the locals here. I allowed my frustrations to get to me instead of figuring out how  to motivate these students more. I forgot why I teach. I feel ashamed.

After being overwhelmed with such things, I realized how valuable they do see me - and how nice that feels. I will not give up on these kids, but rather, find another way to reach them. I'll make it more exciting - somehow. On another note, it was my friend's birthday, so the box of cakes came in handy tonight! :)
