As you may recall from previous posts, drivers here are nuts. So, I would not want to drive here, even if I could. The past two days, I have been busy running errands and such. Without a car, you do a lot of walking. Yes, there are buses, but they may or may not come, it may be 10 minutes or 40...you never know. So, walking is much faster, depending on where you want to go. This evening, I left work, stopped at home to feed the cat, left again and walked about 15 min. to meet a friend. We caught a bus to the market (the one with really cheap produce) and Green (a large supermarket). After shopping, I decided to brave the bus home in lieu of a taxi. So, approximately 8 bags totaling an estimated 30 pounds, came with me on the bus. This wasn't the challenging part. The challenging part was that there isn't a bus stop right near my place. So, I got off, and carried my load of goodies the 15 min. walk back to my apartment. I definitely think I burned a few calories on that one!
I am enjoying knowing that I am doing something good for my body. And, with all of the walking, I sure do sleep good at night. Now, if only I could lay off the bread and butter, I may lose some weight! ;) Friends, go take a walk. Enjoy the fresh air. Winter is just around the corner!
