international smorgasbord

Today, our school hosted a family potluck event to officially kick off the school year. I was please to participate, as I always enjoy free food. But, I didn't realize just how awesome it would be. It was literally an international smorgasbord! We had Spanish, Korean, Indian, Pakistani, Kazakh, Russian, American, German, Polish, and probably some others I am unsure of...all represented in delicious salads, meat pies, pastries, etc. I was in heaven! For those who know me well, you know I love to eat!!!!  Speaking of that, funny thing is, my friends here have learned me already and asked me to get the line started b/c they knew I wouldn't be shy. LOL. I ate a variety and enjoyed every single bite. The only thing I didn't get to (because I was full) was this delicious looking cream cake. Ah, didn't need it anyway, but it looked yummy.

I managed to make it to market afterwards for my weekly veggie shopping and then made a huge pot of fresh veggie soup for this week. Yes, I can cook. ;)  My soup has onion, potato, carrot, cabbage, garlic, chicken stock, and corn. The best part is, the entire pot of soup cost about $4.00 to make. And that is only because I spent $2.00 alone on the corn! So, with a full belly, I am going to go take a nap. I have been invited out tonight and have been warned I need to make it to at least 3am this time. We'll see.
