I miss Walmart

After a week of needing items, cleaning supplies, etc., I realize just how much I miss Walmart. Yes, I said it. Some things in Kazakhstan are just TOO expensive and I refuse to give in. Therefore, I have to work around it. For example, a can opener is about $30!!! Yes, you read that right. I mean, for $1 at the Dollar Tree and the $6 to ship, it's still better to get it in the states. I have to be careful not to buy anything at the store that doesn't have a pull-tap top, and I rely on the small store bags from my daily trip to the grocery store as trash bags. Foil is another expensive item. Oh, and the craziest? Hangers! Yep, if I want to hang my clothes in my beautiful armoire, I have to pay nearly $9 for only 10 hangers - the plastic kind!!! I am definitely struggling with the quick trip to Walmart that would fix everything. Thank goodness beer is cheap. It makes up for some of the headache. (lol)

  1. Guess everytime someone comes to visit, you'll need to give them a list of things to bring! Back in the day, my sister used to bring Levi's jeans to Russia- on the black market she could buy anything with Levi's. She still uses cigarettes to barter in some third world nations (she doesn't smoke but gets freebies from her company- can you imagine?) Amazing how different things are! (BTW this is Heather)
