Being faithful paid off!

So, as you are aware, about 3 months ago, I was diagnosed with stomach ulcers - 7 of them to be exact. I was hospitalized for a weekend, then went to Hong Kong to get a scope done with a specialist. He is the one who found the ulcers. I had a bacterial infection, so it was either that, or other meds that caused the pain and the surfacing of 7 devils in my belly.

So, for the last 3 months, I've been off the alcohol, chocolate, caffeine, fried foods, etc. I have only recently started back to small amounts of chocolate and coffee. Today, I saw a new doctor. I'm not sure why, but the one I saw originally no longer practices at the hospital. Anyway, Dr. Wong, my new doctor, was quite nice. He not only said he felt I would be all healed, but he also gave me the best news ever - I can still use ibuprofen!! Now, ibuprofen is NOT good for those with ulcers. But, when I questioned about my arthritis, Dr. Wong said I could still use my ibuprofen, as long as I am on Nexium at the same time. This will help counteract the upsetting to the stomach, but allow the medicine to still help with my pain. YAY!!! I was thrilled to hear that.

So, my stomach shows no active ulcers at this moment in time, which makes me so happy that my 3 strict months was worth it. My body feels better and I sleep better when I eat healthy. I'm not going to permanently give up everything bad, but I am going to be much more conscious of it and not eat as much of it.

Speaking of eating, this Saturday is our staff Thanksgiving meal. I can't wait to eat some turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc. YUMMY!! And then next week, on the actual day of Thanksgiving, we are going to a local restaurant (my favorite one actually) to have a meal again. LOVE Thanksgiving food!!

The only difference between two weeks ago and now, is that I plan to have wine with my dinner now!! :)
