First Impressions

Well, one week has gone by and I had NO idea what to expect, but Astana exceeds any expectations I may have had.  The city is very clean and most people are more than willing to help you out, even though most do not speak English. I'm enjoying the weather, the food, and my new friends/colleagues. I'm still apprehensive about the bus routes and taxi's, but I'm sure with time, that will be fine as well. I will be teaching at at international school where they have a need for Special Education. With only two students, it will be a BIG change from my job in the U.S.A.

  2. It will be a big change for you to have two students in a office-sized "classroom". The transportation will become familiar to you as you use it. My favorite, so far, is the yurt outside your classroom. Can you tour it, also, for pictures?

  3. Joanna, I can't tell you how much i am enjoying reading about your experiences and adventures. I am so proud of you for having the courage to "make the journey"! Please keep writing as I look forward to hearing every juicy detail. Also, let me add, by reading about "your" experiences, maybe, just maybe you will give the rest of us the courage to really experience what Life has to offer. Beautiful!
